The rejection email almost always says the same thing: "Your application was not approved." Behind the scenes, however, thMenu's KYC engine attributes that decision to one of seven specific signals, and each has its own fix. Based on 2027 data, 18% of first-time applications are rejected, but 91% of resubmissions get approved when applicants address the right error code.

The 7 most common rejection codes

The list below comes from 12,400 applications processed in the last six months. Each code in your rejection email maps to a specific remediation path.

  • KYC-001 Identity verification: OCR cannot read the ID text or face match falls below 60%.
  • KYC-002 IBAN mismatch: Applicant name and bank account holder differ; auto string-similarity below 85%.
  • KYC-003 Tax ID format: SSN / VAT / EIN fails format validation or country code does not match.
  • KYC-004 Ban history: Same IP, device fingerprint, or email domain was previously suspended.
  • KYC-005 OTP not completed: SMS verification not finished within the 10-minute window.
  • KYC-006 Photo quality: Resolution under 300 DPI, glare, or cropping issues on the ID image.
  • KYC-007 Country restriction: OFAC, FATF blacklist, or jurisdiction not supported by thMenu.

Step-by-step remediation

Find the code number in your rejection email, apply the corresponding fix, and then click "Reapply." For ID photos, capture your passport or driver's license in natural daylight, no glare, no cropped edges, and ideally 1080×720 or higher resolution in JPEG. For IBAN, download a PDF statement directly from your banking app and match the name field exactly — extra spaces or missing middle names count as mismatches.

Tax ID format varies by country: 11 digits for Turkey, country prefix + 8-12 digits for EU VAT, and XX-XXXXXXX for US EIN. If your OTP timer expired, complete the SMS within 10 minutes — using a different phone number on retry is treated as a fraud signal. If you suspect a false-positive ban, email thmenu@synaltix.io with prior account context; most KYC-004 holds resolve via manual review.

What to watch for in the resubmission

On the second attempt, the system inspects applications with the same device fingerprint more aggressively. Rather than firing off a quick fix, wait 48 hours and audit every field. Capturing the ID photo on a different device or browser also helps lower the fraud score. Multiple consecutive failures from the same IP automatically trigger a 30-day cooldown.

If your rejection was country-based, do not use a VPN — that can result in a permanent ban. Instead, contact support to check your jurisdiction status; thMenu periodically updates its whitelist and grants manual exceptions. For users in blacklisted countries, a direct referral-code share program is often a viable alternative to the full affiliate flow.

FAQ

How long should I wait before reapplying? You can resubmit the same day, but waiting 48 hours both gives you time to fix mistakes and reduces your automated fraud score.

How do I solve the IBAN name mismatch? Match the bank account holder name exactly with your application — even reversed surname order or a missing middle name will cause rejection.

I've been rejected three times — is my account permanently closed? No. After three failed attempts, you enter a 30-day cooldown. Once it ends, you can email support for a manual review.
